Instead of heading into the LCC campus, like every thursday. CTS gave us a task to visit the contemporary exhibition Disobedient Objects. Although you can’t tell what the exhibition is about by the name. It becomes very apparent on first sight. Disobedient Objects is a documentation of recent and previous artworks from Activist groups all around the globe. From women rights, to war stricken protests. The exhibition itself, i found to be a bit scattered, however this could be deliberate as it represents the anarchy and struggle involved with being apart of these groups.
Typically with the style of art/design i create, it always starts with the imagery. I mainly use video/photography to capture the world around me.
For the zine project i chose a very niche project. I chose to focus on a theorem of Plato’s. Theory of Forms, the topic almost has 0 artists or artworks focusing on this subject, which a positive thing but also a negative.
The imagery in these four screen shots are all captures from the VHS footage i gathered from a trip to the Barbican. I began to experiment with the imagery, i found two very strong visuals. One being the black smudge like scar, which was originally just a light, then desaturated. The second, is a shot of the barbicans big tower block. These two images together look almost post- apocalyptic . The third and final image was really just to add some colour to the picture. Im not to sure whether i like it. I’ll have to see what the tutors think
